by the Delegation of Ukraine at the Interactive Dialogue: 

The Pact for the Future and the UN80 Initiative: 

From Commitments to Delivery

Madam President,

Let me begin by thanking you for convening this timely and important dialogue, which provides a valuable platform to reflect on how we can translate the commitments of the Pact for the Future into concrete and measurable results.

Ukraine strongly supported the adoption of the Pact, as it reinforces global solidarity, sustainable development and the principles of international law and the UN Charter — values that are particularly crucial in today’s increasingly complex and volatile geopolitical environment. The Pact rightly underscores the interlinkages between peace and security, human rights and sustainable development as the foundation for a just and prosperous future.

At the same time, the key challenge before us is delivery. Bridging the gap between commitments and implementation requires not only political will, but also institutions that are fit for purpose. In this regard, we see the UN80 Initiative as a critical tool for ensuring that the United Nations system is better equipped to implement the ambitions of the Pact.

The UN80 Initiative should serve to enhance coherence, coordination and accountability across the UN system, while aligning mandates and resources with the priorities agreed by Member States.

The Initiative should also ensure that reform efforts translate into tangible improvements for Member States, including more transparent decision-making, better prioritization of resources and a results-oriented approach across the UN system.

Finally, we wish to emphasize that effective implementation of the Pact requires strengthened partnerships, adequate and predictable financing and enhanced access to technology. The UN80 Initiative can play an important role in enabling these elements by improving system-wide delivery and ensuring that the United Nations remains responsive to the needs of Member States.

Ukraine stands ready to work with all partners to ensure that our shared commitments are matched by tangible results.
