Ukraine recognized jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court on War Crimes

Ukraine recognized the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court on crimes against humanity and war crimes committed since the beginning of the Russian aggression.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin delivered a statement, today, September 8, to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“A historic moment. On behalf of President I am in IntlCrimCourt (ICC – Ed.) to hand over a declaration of acceptance of the jurisdiction of the ICC, “- Foreign Minister admitted. 

As Klimkin said: “Ukraine recognizes ICC jurisdiction over crimes against humanity and war crimes committed since the beginning of the aggression of the Russian Federation.”

According to the minister, the ICC noted the active assistance of the Ukrainian authorities in the investigation of crimes against the protesters on the Maidan.

“Crimes against the Maidan, crimes of the aggressor and his puppet terrorists will not go unpunished,” – wrote Klimkin.

Klimkin also presented a copy of the statement delivered to the ICC.

On February 4, the Parliament recognized the jurisdiction of the ICC on crimes against humanity and war crimes commited by senior officials of the Russian Federation and the leaders of terrorist organizations “DPR” / “LPR”, which led to very serious consequences and mass murder of Ukrainian citizens.
