The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is aware that the members of terrorist groups "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic" are continuing their attempts to traffic orphans to the Russian Federation.
Menacing with the gun, terrorists demand from the orphanages’ management to draw up documents required for traveling of children abroad in accordance with the laws of Ukraine.
Based on the previous experience of similar situations (illegal transportation of the Ukrainian children from the territory of Ukraine), there is a high probability of new attempts of child trafficking through the Ukrainian-Russian border.
In this context, Ukraine has formally requested the Russian side to take all possible measures, in accordance with the international obligations of the Russian Federation in the field of children's rights, in particular Articles 11 and 35 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, aimed at disrupting the criminal plans of the terrorist groups operating in the Eastern Ukraine.
