Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with UN Secretary-General's Personal Representative Robert H. Serry. During the meeting, the Parties discussed the situation in Ukraine.
Oleksandr Turchynov informed that under circumstances when ex-President V.Yanukovych actually withdrew from performing his duties, the Parliament has taken responsibility for the country.
“Now the Verkhovna Rada is the only legitimate authority in the country,” he stressed, adding that a new constitutional majority is now being formed in the Parliament – more than 300 votes.
In his turn, Robert H. Serry informed that the United Nations “highly appreciate Ukraine and supports current processes.”
“I came here to express support from the whole international community,” he said and added that the international community is ready to provide Ukraine with efficient and actual assistance.
